Abstract.
Improving the quality of dental restorations is the most significant direction of development in conservative dentistry.
Objectives. To evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical implementation of the developed methods of aesthetic treatment of devitalized teeth.
Material and methods. Comparative clinical studies of the quality and color conformity of 520 restorations of devitalized teeth performed in 500 male and female patients over the period 2014-2019 were conducted. Within the framework  of a clinical study, the effectiveness of teeth whitening after endodontic treatment was further evaluated, 194 teeth were examined in 190 patients.
Results. Clinical evaluation of aesthetic structures showed that the proportion of restorations performed using the new methods of aesthetic restoration of devitalized teeth developed by us was estimated in 84.8% of cases as an excellent result of treatment, in 15.2% as good. The evaluation of constructions performed prior to the introduction of the developed methods over the period 2014-2016 showed that 47.69% of them were noted as excellent, 22.31% – as good; 10.77% of works were assessed as satisfactory, but requiring correction, and 19.23% as unsatisfactory, requiring replacement (p<0.01). In the course of research, on evaluating the effectiveness of devitalized teeth whitening, 3 groups were identified. In the 1st group  after whitening, there was a complete restoration of the color and fluorescent properties of the devitalized teeth in 37.11% of cases. In the 2nd group after whitening, the color and fluorescence of the devitalized teeth recovered partially, this happened in 35.05%. In the 3rd group of teeth the color and fluorescent properties of the devitalized teeth after whitening did not recover in 27.84% of cases.
Conclusions. The effectiveness of the clinical implementation of the proposed methods of aesthetic restoration of devitalized teeth with defects in the hard tissues made up 19.23%, which enabled the reduction in the number of unsatisfactory fillings, the improvement in the quality of aesthetic structures production, maximally approximating them to the natural teeth.
Key words: restoration, aesthetic quality index, whitening, devitalized tooth.
