The role of the induced NO-synthase in endothelium-dependent regulation of arterial vascular tone on adaptation by short stress stimulation

Abstract. The purpose of the given research was to estimate the contribution of nitrogen monoxide formed by the induced NO-synthase (iNOS) to the modification of endothelium-dependent vasodilatation and T1-adrenoreactivity of isolated aortic rings of rats adapted by short stress stimulation.
Experiments were carried out on the preparations of isolated aortic rings of rats adapted by short stress stimulation. Repeated short stress stimulation resulted in the development of oxidative stress and the increase in the formation of nitrogen monooxide, synthesized by the iNOS in the aortic cells. The induced NO-synthase activation as a result of adaptation to stress plays an important role in the maintenance of the amount of bioavailable NO, capable of providing endothelium-dependent mechanisms of arterial vascular tone regulation.
Key words: induced NO-synthase, vasodilatation, vascular tone, adaptation.
