Ethics and patriotism as necessary components of the medical personnel professional competence

Abstract.
The purpose of this article is to show that medical profession combines knowledge, accumulated by humanity for the future generations. Medical profession requires great responsibility, humaneness, sincerity and warm-heartedness, and the whole life of those, who have taken this difficult road must be imbued with them. Courage, patriotism, readiness to defend their motherland are mostly the characteristics of the representatives of the older generation. And today they teach the youth patriotism, citizenship and devotion to the cause and profession by the example of their life. Ideological work in Vitebsk State Medical University is aimed at the improvement of the knowledge of the university history, its glorious past, and is subordinated to the main task of education – indissolubility of the link between generations.
