The main trends in the formation of the modern pharmaceutical market of Azerbaijan

Abstract.
The study has shown that approximately 98,0% of medicines are imported to Azerbaijan, the number of generics is 2 times higher than that of the original medicines, prescription medicines prevail more than 2,5 times over the non-prescription ones. Currently, the legal base in the sphere of medicines turnover in Azerbaijan is backed up by a considerable number of laws and adopted regulatory documents. The regulatory body, dealing with the issues of pricing for medicines is the Tariff (price) Council. The calculation of surcharges for wholesale and retail prices for medicines is based on the principle of reference pricing. Thanks to the activities of the Tariff Council, the cost was approved for more than 250 vitally needed and highly saleable medicines according to 25 INN. This state price regulation has reduced the expenditures of the population and the state budget for medicines.
