Abstract.
The aim of this work was to study the antiallergic activity of Origanum vulgare herb tea on the model of mast cell degranulation in vitro.
Origanum vulgare herb tea was prepared by infusion at room temperature in a ratio of plant raw material and boiling water P 1.5:100 for 15 minutes. The resulting tea was evaporated. The dry residue contained 37.25±0.95% of the total of phenolic compounds in terms of gallic acid and 2.63 ± 0.20% of the total of flavonoids in terms of cynaroside.
The study was carried out on outbred male mice. The animals were kept in accordance with the established requirements. The requirements for setting up an experimental study using laboratory animals and humane treatment of them were abided by in this work. An epidermal cat hair allergen produced by “Biomed named after I.I. Mechnikov”, the Russian Federation was used to sensitize the animals.
Allergenic effect was not detected in the medicine being studied on animals of the intact group and the “placebo” group. When assessing the antiallergic effect of Origanum vulgare herb tea on sensitized animals, a significant (p<0.05) decrease in the percentage of mast cell degranulation was shown in the dose range of 45-4500 ng/ml. The greatest decrease in the percentage of mast cell degranulation in the presence of an allergen was observed at a dose of 45 ng/ml of Origanum vulgare herb tea. The percentage of mast cell protection from degranulation in this case made up 49.1±5.4%. Increasing the dose of the studied medicine significantly reduced (p<0.05) the percentage of mast cell protection from degranulation.
Keywords: Origanum vulgare herb; tea; antiallergic activity; mast cells; the percentage of mast cell protection from degranulation.
