Emotional types of the medical students of VSMU

Abstract.
Objectives. To study the emotional types (ET) of the medical students of VSMU and to analyze their dynamic and gender characteristics.
Material and methods. 347 students of the medical faculty took part in the study. Out of them there were 127 2nd-year students (36 boys and 91 girls); 220 6th-year students (46 boys and 174 girls). The study of the emotional types was carried out using the method of R. Davidson, S. Begley “Express diagnosis of emotional type”.
Results. A comparative analysis of the indicators of certain aspects of the emotional type of the 2nd- and the 6th-year students of the medical faculty indicates a more rapid restoration of emotional manifestations in the process of communication, a positive type of forecasting, a higher level of self-awareness, a better understanding of the context of the communication situation and a better concentration on the interlocutor of the sixth-year students. These features of ET dynamics are most typical for girls. The dynamic features of ET of the second-year medical students are more clearly expressed in boys. The study of ET of the medical students may testify to the positive changes of the emotional component of their communicative activity during the learning process.
The results of the investigation can be used in the activities of socio-pedagogical and psychological services, the work of curators of academic groups and tutors.
