Vestnik VGMU. 2023;22(6):89-94.

Abstract.
Objectives. To study the dental profile of children with chronic stomatitis.
Material and methods. During the work, a retrospective and prospective analysis of the results of a dental study of 120 pediatric patients (4-18 years old) with chronic stomatitis was carried out.
Results. As a result of the analysis of the dental profile of children with chronic stomatitis deviations from the norm in the studied parameters were identified.
Conclusions. In children with chronic stomatitis, there was a statistically significant increase in the intensity of dental caries and a deterioration in the level of oral hygiene, which negatively affects the condition of the oral mucosa and the course of stomatitis.
All children with chronic stomatitis had different levels of intensity of dental caries. In patients with temporary bite, a high intensity of dental caries was revealed; in children with mixed and permanent bite, an average level of intensity of dental caries was found, but all of them were statistically significantly higher than in the children from the control group (p<0.05). When determining the level of oral hygiene, it was revealed that children during the period of temporary bite had poor oral hygiene, children during the period of mixed bite had unsatisfactory oral hygiene and children during the period of permanent bite had poor oral hygiene, which was significantly different from the control group (p=0.004).
Keywords: oral mucosa, children, dental caries intensity index, oral hygiene level, stomatitis.
