Abstract.
Tumors of the placenta are a rather rare occurrence in the practice of an obstetrician-gynecologist, especially neoplasia from chorionic mesenchyme. Most clinical guidelines do not contain algorithms for the diagnosis and management of pregnancy with nontrophoblastic tumors. The purpose of the study was to describe the clinical manifestations of large chorioangioma and to compare the symptoms and chosen tactics with those cases, that were published in the scientific journals. A clinical case is described with a detailed analysis of diagnosing and treatment tactics. The tumor and placenta histological examination was performed using standard methods. Scientific articles on the PICO-strategy of research according to keywords were selected for comparison. Both in our case and in previously published cases, there is a relationship between the severity of clinical symptoms and the size of the tumor and the intensity of its growth. Actively growing large chorioangiomas are associated with acute polyhydramnios, intrauterine hypoxia, postnatal anemia in a newborn and adverse perinatal outcome.
Keywords: chorioangioma, perinatal outcome, maternal outcome, diagnosis, delivery.
Conflict of interest. The authors declare that there is no obvious or potential conflict of interest, connected with the publication of the article and also confirm the fact of familiarizing the patient with the text of the article prior to submitting it for printing.
Acknowledgments. The authors express their gratitude to the patient, who favorably treated their request to publish a scientific description of the clinical case encountered by her, as well as to experts and editors of the edition while working with their article.
