Abstract.
Tension-type headache (TTH) is the most common type of primary headache with which a significant part of patients do not consult a doctor for a long time, but after a visit to a medical organization they can wait long for their diagnosis to be verified. Therefore, this widespread disease among the population is accompanied by a high level of self-medication both in the period before making a diagnosis and after the contact with the healthcare system.
The aim of the research was to identify reserves for improving the provision of medical care to patients with TTH.
Tasks to be fulfilled: to describe the epidemiological portrait of a patient with TTH, to study the actual model of medical care provided to patients with tension-type headache and to analyze the time from the moment of the first symptoms of tension-type headache appearance and seeking medical care with complaints at a medical organization before diagnosing and to determine reserves for improving this indicator. The study material was the questionnaire data of 81 patients diagnosed with tension-type headache aged from 18 to 83 years, gender distribution: 77.8% of women and 22.2% of men on the basis of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Diagnostic Center.
Based on the study of the gender, social characteristics and the route of patients with TTH from the moment of the onset of the first symptoms of the disease and the initial visit to the health organization before diagnosis, a set of measures to improve the provision of medical care to this group of patients has been proposed.
Based on the data obtained, reserves for improving the provision of medical care to patients with TTH by means of organizational and methodological technologies have been determined.
Keywords: tension-type headache, patient routing, social characteristics, satisfaction with medical care.
