Abstract.
Objectives. To study specific features of thinking types in students of the General Medicine Faculty of VSMU.
Material and methods. 345 students of the General Medicine Faculty took part in the study including 127 people (91 girls and 36 boys) of the 2nd course; 218 people (173 girls and 45 boys) of the 6th year course. The study of thinking types was carried out using the method “Determination of the type of thinking” (modified by G.V. Rezapkina).
Results. The comparative analysis of dynamic and gender characteristics of thinking types indicates a positive dynamics in indicators of visual-figurative and creative thinking, as well as their dominance among the 6-year students (especially girls). This pattern can be considered as a factor that ensures the development of the cognitive component of CA and contributes to effective learning at VSMU. The identified positive changes in the indicators of abstract-symbolic, visual-figurative and creative thinking suggest a positive influence of the educational process at VSMU on the formation of clinical thinking of future doctors. The positive dynamics of creative thinking indicators may indicate the beneficial influence of the informative educational space of VSMU on the personal development of students of the General Medicine Faculty.
Conclusions. The results of studying thinking types can be used in the activities of socio-pedagogical and psychological services, as well as by tutors and curators of students’ academic groups.
