Abstract.
Introduction. There is a constant balance between the microbial flora of the maxillofacial region and the body’s protective factors. However, these factors are often attacked both due to the proliferation and accelerated development of microorganisms, and due to the weakening of the factors of general and, especially, local immune defense.
Objectives. increasing efficiency in treatment of patients with infectious and inflammatory diseases the maxillofacial region.
Material and methods. A comprehensive clinical examination was carried out of 104 patients with infectious and inflammatory processes of the maxillofacial region undergoing inpatient treatment in the dental department of Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital from 2018 to 2021.
Results. Correlations of varying strengths were established between laboratory parameters and the period of hospitalization, the total duration of the febrile period, and the number of cases of prescribing reserve antibiotics.
Conclusions. The relationships between clinical manifestations of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region and the results of laboratory studies have been established. Mathematical models for determination of need for reserve antibiotics prescribing have been proposed.
Keywords: infections, maxillofacial region, antibiotics, immunity.
