Abstract.
Early diagnosis of alcohol dependence is a key factor in preventing serious medical, social and economic consequences of this disease. Risk Appetite Test (RAT) is one of the promising, in our opinion, methods suitable for screening and detection of alcohol disease prodrome, in combination with other neuropsychological methods.
Objectives. To study the patterns of RAT test indicators in persons with alcohol dependence syndrome.
Material and methods. 279 practically healthy participants were examined who comprised the control group, as well as 263 patients of the narcological department of “Vitebsk regional clinical center of psychiatry and narcology” as well as individuals staying in the medical-labor dispensary No. 4 of Vitebsk with the diagnosis of alcohol dependence syndrome. (F10.2). Depending on the disease severity, the examinees were subdivided into 2 groups. Since the groups statistically significantly differed in their age, the influence of age was additionally analyzed for each of the studied indicators.
Results. . Individual indicators specific to patients suffering from alcohol dependence syndrome were specified in this paper. Although total profits did not differ between groups, it was registered that responders in the study groups adopted a more risky game tactics. They made more total touches, were not afraid to pump “dangerous” balls of red and yellow color, less often had a series of consecutive saves and more often had several consecutive losses. To a significantly greater extent, these trends were typical for the group of patients with more severe form of addiction.
Conclusions. This study is based on the use of one of 8 neuropsychological methods included in the automated program complex of the neuropsychological diagnostics NeuroSMG developed by the authors and used for comprehensive testing of alcoholism. A comprehensive study of the established indicators in order to use them for differential diagnostics of alcohol dependence stages is scheduled as the further research objective.
Keywords: neuropsychology, risk propensity test, RAT, diagnostics, alcohol dependence syndrome.
