Rowell’s syndrome in the practice of pediatrician (clinical case)

Abstract.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is one of the most common forms of autoimmune diseases in childhood, which, due to the multifaceted nature of its clinical manifestations, requires close attention from a physician of any specialty to the issue of diagnosing this pathology, since a timely diagnosis significantly affects further  tactics of treatment, observation and management of patients with SLE, determines the long-term prognosis for the life and health of a child with this autoimmune pathology. In this regard, in modern medical practice, doctors of any specialty must be highly alert to the possibility of autoimmune pathology and, if diagnostic difficulties arise, interact actively with colleagues of the related specialties. In our practice, we have encountered and present to your attention a rare and complex case of clinical course of SLE, diagnosed by us in a teenage girl at the department for treating children with cardiological and rheumatological diseases of the healthcare institution of Vitebsk Regional Children’s Clinical Center of Vitebsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital – Rowell’s syndrome, which, despite the fact that it is a specific skin manifestation of this autoimmune disease, often causes significant difficulties in verifying this pathology, and as a result, unfortunately, to a delay in prescribing the adequate therapy.
