Abstract.
Objectives. To assess the interest of students in studying the discipline “Dermatovenerology”; to determine their level of knowledge, the degree of educational process perception and to identify the ways of improving the effectiveness of educational activities.
Material and methods. An anonymous survey of 337 third-year students of the medical faculty of VSMU was conducted at the end of the cycle of the discipline “Dermatovenerology”. The questionnaire included the following questions: the level of satisfaction with the course, understanding of key topics of skin diseases, satisfaction with teaching methods and educational materials, recommendations for improving the course. The data were processed using statistical methods (Word Excel 2023): mode (M), average value (CP VALUE).
Results. Almost all respondents (96%) recognize the importance of knowledge in the field of dermatovenerology for comprehensive professional training of a doctor. There is a high level of positive feedback regarding participation in consultations (83%) and independent work with patients (68.8%). Topics related to autoimmune bullous dermatoses cause the greatest difficulties in mastering the subject, which is noted by 20.2% of respondents. The majority of participants are aware of the relevance and prevalence of dermatological diseases: average: 4.0-4.1 (high agreement), as well as their potentially severe consequences, including the psychological aspect: average: 3.8 (high agreement).
Conclusions. Students’ education requires modernization of the educational process by transferring the study of the discipline “Dermatovenerology” to senior courses as part of cycle classes, which will reduce the information load and increase the level of practical training. It is necessary to introduce intensively interactive forms of learning, such as group discussions and case studies, as well as the “flipped classroom” methodology, which will increase motivation and the quality of learning.
