The clinical peculiarities of the abutment teeth use while making adhesive constructions

Abstract.
The aim of this work was to study dynamic indices of electrical excitability of the abutment teeth pulp while making fiber reinforced composites (FRC). 208 teeth of 79 patients have been examined, which were divided into two groups: those with pathological changes in periodontal tissues and those without periodontal pathology. Healthy abutment teeth, the teeth with clinical diagnosis of dentin caries and the teeth with previous composite restorations have been studied. Pulp electrical excitability was determined with the help of the electrical odontometry diagnosis device (according to L.G.Rubin method). Electrical odontometry of the teeth was conducted before teeth preparation, in 2 weeks, 1 and 2 years after composite making. It has been found out that the presence of caries and previously made restorations significantly increases the indices of teeth electrical odontometry from 5,0[5,0/6,0] mkA (intact teeth) to 11,36 (1,12) and 14,29 (1,437) mkA, accordingly. In such patients with marginal periodontal pathology an additional increase in teeth electrical odontomentry indices up to 20,0[19,0/21,0] and 22,0[22,0/23,0] mkA has been observed. When making FRC, abutment teeth preparation leads to pulp changes with significant increase in electrical odontometry indices. These changes are reversible and are characterized by the gradual indices decrease up to the level corresponding to the odontometry values of a tooth with restoration.
