Abstract.
The article presents an analytical review of the scientific domestic and foreign literature over the past 20 years, devoted to the etiopathogenetic and clinical aspects of the surgical approach to the treatment of patients with segmental and multi-comminuted fractures of the lower leg bones, as well as the prevention of complications resulting from exposure to high-energy trauma. This is a new nosological unit, that includes several pathological conditions and represents a combined damage to both bone and soft tissue elements. A systematic study of literature sources has shown that, according to the majority of authors, the betterment of the surgical treatment methods of patients with high-energy trauma can improve the results of the provided treatment, reduce economic costs and the number of complications, as well as increase patient satisfaction with the outcome of the operation. The main aspects of the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of segmental and multi-comminuted fractures of the lower leg bones due to high-energy trauma are discussed.
Keywords: shinbone, segmental and multi-comminuted fractures, high-energy trauma, compartment syndrome, lower leg.
